Janelle Monae shut down the red carpet at the 92nd Annual Oscar’s. Her sparkling Ralph Lauren dress wasn’t the only thing with major glow. Janelle’s skin was flawless!
Janelle’s makeup artist and longtime DERMAFLASH fan, Jessica Smalls, begins her red-carpet makeup looks with DERMAFLASH. “The key to flawless red-carpet skin is making sure your skin is soft and smooth, and with the DERMAFLASH Luxe you get the best of both worlds! It exfoliates and removes peach fuzz all at once.”
Janelle’s full Oscar’s Makeup Breakdown:
“On Hollywood’s biggest night, I wanted Janelle to shine like the star that she truly is… so I decided to do some major skin prep and give her a classic glam look.
I Cleansed Janelle’s face with Koh Gen Doh’s (KGD) Oriental Plants Facial Wash and used the DERMAPORE to clear and unclog her pores. I dried her skin with gentle pats and used the DERMAFLASH LUXE to exfoliate and rid Janelle’s face of any peach fuzz. I wiped her face with KGD’s Cleansing Spa Water wipes and rehydrated her skin with KGD’s Moisture Spa Gel Rich. At this point I don’t know who’s shining brighter – Janelle’s skin or an Oscar.
I filled in Janelle brows using Hourglass cosmetics Micro Arch pencil in Natural Black and locked them in place using Soap Brows. I primed her lids with eye primer and used Natasha Denonna‘s Biba Palette to give a natural lid and define her create. I lined her eyes with a liquid black liner, added Urban Decay’s Metal Glitter Liner in black on top for a shiny pop and rimmed her waterline with Sephora’s waterproof eyeliner in Black Lace. To complete her eyes I customized my Lashify Gossemer by applying the lashes (B.12-B.14-D.16-B.14-D.16) in a cris cross manner give bold wispie lash.
Next using KGD’s super soft foundation brush, I mixed then buffed in their Manfanshi Moisture Foundation in 302 and 303 to get an airbrushed effect. I used a medium deep concealer under her eyes, down her nose and a bit in the center of her head to highlight. Then, I used a deep bronzer on the sides of her forehead, along the sides of her nose and under her cheekbone to create dimension. I placed Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek to Chic blush in Love is the Drug on the apples of her cheeks, cheekbone and finished it off with Charlotte Tibury’s Glowgasm Highlight Palette for a heavenly glow.
In classic Janelle Monae form, I did her signature red lip, using a cherry red lip liner and Nars Dragon Girl Lipstick.”
